In March of this year, Micro-AV Social Purpose Corporation began the work of filing its first patent. With the creation of the Millipod system; Micro-AV dreams of changing the way we move people, not just vehicles. In order to share our vision with the world, we worked with The Patent Professor and their team of intellectual property experts.
We here at Micro-AV are happy to announce that, as of November 2021, the Millipod system is officially patent pending. The status gives us more freedom to showcase our ideas and reveal the details. We are excited to share even more information in the coming months as well as sparking conversations about solutions such as these to the climate crisis, as seen in Dr. Folsom’s talks last month.
Provisional patent US 63/279,412 SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY JOINING AND LEAVING A PLATOON OF VEHICLES runs to more than 50 pages. It makes contributions to a highly patented field. Micro-AV SPC envisions a rich ecosystem in which many companies contribute to a post-automotive age based on automated micromobility. The patent is freely available for research purposes. It will be made available for commercial purposes at a reasonable fee. The patent is part of our portfolio of intellectual property to position the company for investors.
Abstract of the Disclosure
A system and method for vehicles automatically joining or leaving a platoon of vehicles. Illustratively, the road vehicles operate in a physically connected platoon and may automatically join or leave the platoon of vehicles in a fully autonomous manner. The vehicle platoon operations provide for automatically joining or leaving a platoon of vehicles such that the vehicle platoon does not reduce speed to add a vehicle to the platoon or release a vehicle from the platoon, and vehicles are coupled with little or no gap there between, and with minimal force on the respective couplings connecting the platooned vehicles.
